In Emergency nurses working in the hospital, how does hand washing compared to hand sanitizer only, reduce hospital acquired infections? With so many issues with infection and the transmission of nosocomial infections there must be a procedure to take more caution of such issues. The purpose of this paper is to discuss two articles that have been researched to address the level of hierarchy, value and usefulness to sufficiently write an evidence-based practice paper. While doing research within the Joanna Briggs Institute database, a valid article regarding hand hygiene in hospitals was available with the search criterion that was provided. This criterion consisted of searching under the National Clinical Guidelines which falls under the critically appraised category according to the levels of evidence pyramid. This level is second from the top of the pyramid with the top being the highest level of evidence. The importance of this level is that the information is filtered with the focus being evidence summaries. Like with any information, making sure that the source is valid and credible is necessary when conducting a research paper.
