I understand that therapeutic communication is essential for the successful outcome of individualize nursing care of each patient. A kind and sincere nurse will be more effective than a nurse who is rude and unconcerned. I also understand that learning to not use nontherapeutic communication is just as important as using therapeutic communication. Nontherapeutic communication can be counterproductive to a patient by slowing down their healing process. It can also cause more stress to the patient which can interfere with their health. I would incorporateclarifying into my individual communication style to improve the nurse-patient/ family relationship.Clarifying is a therapeutic communication technique because it allows the nurse to validate the message received to ensure that both the nurse and client have a mutual interpretation of the message.
