In Texass 35th congressional district, which is the district in which I reside, John Cornyn is the senior senator and Ted Cruz is the junior senator. Our elected congressmen is Lloyd Doggett (GovTrack, n.d.).With John Cornyn and Ted Cruz as Republican Senate leaders, Lloyd Doggett is the underdog in Texas, representing Democratic interests. Going through the life of Lloyd Doggett, his education, experience in politics, and policies dear to his heart, you will come to understand the interest I have in him. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Lloyd Doggett where he received a bachelors degree in Business Administration and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas (UT) at Austin and the University of Texas School of Law respectively. He served as student body president his senior year at UT at Austin and was a part of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Lloyd is married, to Libby, and they have two daughters together. Starting his electoral career when he was elected to the Texas State Senate in 1973, Lloyd has led a very long career holding true to his values. Prior to serving as a Congressmen, Doggett was a Justice to the Texas Supreme Court in 1989.
