CPMGT Week 1.docx CPMGT/300 Overview of A Project CPMGT/300 I have worked in the food industry for about ten years now and have just transitioned to working in a school. Many years of working in... the food industry I held a management position in which I had to be a leader or a manager. I found that getting a goal accomplished comes much easier when you are a leader rather than a manager. A leader takes part in reaching a goal with providing guidance and assistance and a manger just gives the goal and the information need to accomplish the goal or vision at hand. Many times, when accomplishing something new, mistakes will take place and as a leader I would take responsibility and provide feedback. I would watch managers from other shifts that would have team members make honest mistakes and the manager would discipline them but not provide feedback or guidance for success in the future. It is important to gain the trust of your team member, where the team members feel comfortable following and trust their leader to give them feed back and guide them when things go wrong. When things go wrong, no one wants to feel the blame alone, this is where you separate a leader and a manager. A main goal of being a manager was to have a set goal for completing orders such as restaurant settings, drive thru or walk-in ordering. In the drive thru the time goal was always 3-5 minutes from the time a customer orders to the time they pay, receive their food, and drive off.
