Visual imagery can be used for such purposes as dealing with traumatic establishingevents, desensitization hierarchies, or improving physical performanceÂ ("Visual imagery," 2020). Verbal imagery, on the other hand, is defined as, Certain words create a clear picture in peoples' minds. It does this because your brain has associated that word with a very specific mental image, which is brought to the forefront when triggered by reading or hearing that word. For example, an apple (Suler, 2019). In this article, we will discuss both of these concepts. We will compare and contrast the two. And explain why visual imagery is more important and justify that position with research. According to Suler (2019),Psychology describes language and visualizations as two basic ways our mind manages memories and processes information. Some researchers call them verbal and mental imagery systems (Para. 1). In our mind's eye, we see pictures in our imagination, as in recalling a childhood memory. While language dwellson the left side of the brain, complex visual imagining occurs in the right.
