Influencing factors include lack of knowledge of preventative behaviors, pandemic fatigue, and vaccine access. (B1) Health Inequity/Disparity Hendricks County, Indiana, is comprised of suburban and rural areas adjacent to and west of the capital city of Indianapolis. The county seat is Danville, IN, and other major towns in the county include Avon, Plainfield, and Brownsburg. The county has an estimated population of 170,300 according to the latest census, with 14.2% of this population being over age 65 (United States Census Bureau, n.d.) This figure calculates to roughly 24,000 of the county™s residents. Since March 1, 2020, there have been 696 hospitalizations related to COVID-19, and of those hospitalized, nearly 65% were age 65 and above (Regenstrief Institute, 2020). Hospital census is certainly affected when patient numbers surge due to longer hospital stays in this population, causing undue stress on the entire healthcare infrastructure of am area.
