In fact, œ600,000 deaths are related to opioids from the year 2000-2016. (Baird, 2018, p.145) Importance has been put on this issue as result of the high number of patients continually rising of those who are at higher risk for overdose and development of opioid addiction. Studies have been derived to give insight on risk factors associated to adults who suffer from prescription opioid misuse, addiction and overdose. Prescribing of opioids has become a progressively applied routine as they are recommended treatment of moderate to severe acute pain. Therefore, attention from government and regulatory agencies has increased with the hopes of combating this issue. These agencies have provided grants to help support community/state-based prevention efforts such as education for prescribers and patients, opioid overdose prevention and surveillance activities/programs. Interprofessional Coalition/Collaboration Firstly, the health of the public isn™t the responsibility of one individual or organization.
