I will be reflecting and discussing an interdisciplinary collaboration I experienced at work . I will talk about how attempting to have a new electronic health record didnt work out and ways to improve leadership and communication. Reflection I work at a very busy hospital in the city on the observation unit. Patients are billed high when they are on this unit because its supposed to be a short stay. This means we work quickly to either have them discharged or transferred to an inpatient floor. All of this happens during our daily round meetings in the morning. This involves many people such as the nurse, social worker, case managers, home care coordinator, a doctor, the unit manager, and unit team leader. Everyone has to work collaboratively and communicate well with each other to have the rounds be successful. We discuss on the medical side what we are doing for our patients to help treat them. We also elaborate what is keeping them in the hospital and if the patient can qualify to be inpatient and transferred. In this way, the patients are on a unit thats better suited for their needs and we make the space for more observation patients.
