This the first line of defense before the issue can be seen, and the hacker has to deal with the perimeter's security first. Examples of perimeter controls are: Border routers act as traffic cops of the system. They tell traffic where to go. The border router is the router that the user can control before allowing in a threat. Firewalls are also perimeter protection that defends the boundary, whether private or public, like a fence or gates protecting something from getting inside a building. A firewall does pick up where the user permits the border router to let in the information. Perimeter control is like a defensive wall for the network, which helps secure from a cyberattack. Within the firewalls, the following help ensure the network boundary is secured by working together. These are IPS (Intrusion prevention system), IDS (Intrusion detection system), and the VPN (Virtual private network), which helps the perimeter recognize specific threats. Internal controls help to lower or stop the risk and reduce the chances of any unwanted coming risk. Internal controls remind me a lot, like football as a defensive line helping protect the quarterback.
