Autism spectrum disorder is an Atypical development that appears when a child delays in specific areas in comparison to their average peer progression whether it be physical, cognitive, or social. Individuals with ASD often have problems with social, emotional, and communication skills (CDC, 2020) and may have unique methods of paying attention, learning, or reacting to certain things. œASD can sometimes be detected at 18 months or younger. By age 2, a diagnosis by an experienced professional can be considered very reliable (CDC, 2020).
