Final paper.docx Running Head: THE PERSONALITY THEORY FINAL PAPER PSY330 The Personality Theory Final Paper Theories of Personality PSY330 Introduction There are seven different models of person... ality, three of which are behavioral, interpersonal and self-psychology. Personality development is different in every person but relies on a combination of two factors, heredity and environment. This essay will cover the final three models of personality, how our personality development is affected and personal opinions on assessments and useful models of personality. Behavioral Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist, was a major theorist in the behavioral model of personality. His classical conditioning research is one of the most well-known concepts in psychology. (Lecci, 2015) Classical conditioning is comprised of several different stimulus and responses. Simply put, two stimuli are linked to produce a new learned response. The most well- known research was done with a dog, food and a bell. Classical conditioning showed that responses can be learned, in the dog research Pavlov was able to pair the sound of a bell with salivating. This research was broken down into phases. Classical conditioning begins with an unconditioned reflex, in this case it was how the dog salivated at the sight of food. (Lecci, 2015) The second phase was to present the dog with a bell, a neutral stimulus. (Lecci, 2015). The bell did not evoke a response from the dog.
