OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate an AM communications system using the AM/ DSB/ SSB Generator and the AM/ DSB Receiver. DISCUSSION: The essential parts of a communication systems as shown below, are the ... sender or transmitter, the transmission line, and the receiver. EQUIPMENT: Description Model Accessories 8948 Power Supply/ Dual Audio Amplifier 9801 Dual Function Generator 9402 Frequency Counter 9403 AM/ DSB/ SSB Generator 9410 AM/ DSB Receiver 9411 Oscilloscope - PROCEDURE: We set up the modules as shown below. All OUTPUT LEVEL and GAIN controls are turned fully counterclockwise to the MIN position. All the equipments are power up.1) Adjust the channel A controls on the Dual Function Generator as follows: FUNCTION : Sine wave FREQUENCY RANGE : 10 kHz OUTPUT FREQUENCY display : A FREQUENCY knob : Adjust for 2 kHz ATTENUATOR : 20 Db OUTPUT LEVEL knob : ¼ turn cw The low frequency signal now present at OUTPUT A will be used as the input for the AM communications system.
