Document Content and Description Below

Part 1: Defining the PSAR Strategy Use pages 218–224 in Success by Design as well as the “PSAR Handout” in Module 10 to summarize and describe each letter of the PSAR acronym. Please be specifi... c and include examples. P: Prepare: Make sure you are ready to learn and have set realistic expectations, Set an intention. Be specific about how much you want to read in a certain amount of time. Estimate your reading time effectively. If a student is reviewing a topic that he or she is familiar with it’s a good idea to skim. Prepare your environment and create space that’s conductive to learning new material. S: Survey: Start by looking at the table of contents in the beginning of the book to see what you’ll be learning and how it fits with another course information. Look for chapter headings and subheadings and turn these into questions. Find connections between the material and your personal life or previous academic experiences. Scan the chapter for bold or italicized words. A: Annotate: Annotating is taking notes while you read. Annotating forces students to interact with the material which helps make sense of the ideas presented and allows reader to recall the information later. Have notes before class sperate them and organize them by class. review notes from previous classes. During class only have necessary supplies or notes that you need. R: Review: Reviewing allows students to know how much they have learned and how much more the need to review these notes. While reviewing notes it’s good to self-test and find out what you’re lacking on. When you’re reviewing do not add more notes only if necessary, something important that you’ve might have missed. Its suggested while reviewing to only apply what’s necessary. Used color code notes to make it easier while you review information from previous classes. Part 2: Prepare for Reading To complete the “Prepare” portion of the PSAR strategy, describe the process you took to prepare for reading the “Brainology” article in the space below. Please be specific. I skimmed through the article first, then I read it. As I read, I took notes not clean notes just wrote down what I thought was important. Then I went back to what I wrote down and read the small portion to have clean notes and I colored code them. Yellow= important, Blue= extra information I might need Green= facts or any abbreviations. Last I reviewed what I wrote down and added anything else that was left over of my previous notes. I added these notes on a sperate page and named them Extra. Part 3: Survey What You Are Reading To illustrate the “Survey” portion of the PSAR strategy, proceed to the “Brainology” article and highlight, underline, or circle the elements you noticed or that stood out to you while surveying the text. Part 4: Annotate What You Are Reading To complete the “Annotate” portion of the PSAR strategy, proceed to the “Brainology” article and make notes of various sections in the article. Your annotations may consist of summaries of key ideas, concepts that stood out to you, and/or questions you may have as you are reading. ............................................CONTINUED.................................................
