While this change from generations past has been positive in numerous ways, there are also increased dangers, as well. It is important children are educated in safe use of technology. Instructional Setting The setting for the presentation is the computer lab of a Hebrew language charter school. All the students in this school have one period a day of Hebrew language instruction and culture, with a focus on literacy and conversational skills. Since I am a part-time teacher, I do not have a regular classroom, so the class is conducted in the computer lab. This allows me to advantage of technology when planning my lessons. Demographically, the overall student population of this school consists of 2,488 students who are predominately Hispanic, which accounts for 62% of the population. The remaining students are 35% are white, 2% as two races, and 1% are Asian. Audience My classroom consists of five fourth grade and eleven fifth grade students who have been previously identified as gifted through Miami-Dade County Public schools. Students can be designated as gifted based IQ test scoring, or through Plan B, the Miami-Dade school districts plan for increasing the participation of under-represented groups in programs for gifted students.
