For the Elementary section, I... observed case #9 - Practicing Presentation and Audience Skills Through Science Presentations. This class consisted of Kindergarten students between the ages of 5-7 years of age. The class consisted of 20 students in the classroom, 10 of whom were boys and 10 of whom were girls. The levels ranged from low to high. One student had autism, one student had a 504 plan for a heart abnormality, 2 students receive speech therapy and 3 students receive English Language Learner services. The demographics for the students were mainly from a rural background, with 3 students of Hispanic origin, who receive the ELL services. The childrens drawings were representational of the wind blowing leaves and they were able to write and read simple sentences. The students seemed to enjoy giving feedback to one another and accepting the feedback. This leads me to believe the students were towards the end of Piagets preoperational stage of development and many entering the concrete operational stage. Eriksons industry v. inferiority was in play during this class. The students were more than willing to participate and very motivated but did require much encouragement and verbal praise. A2. Social cognitivism was used as the learning theory.
