Patient safety ranks at the top of the list and continues to be an issue in the hospital setting. During a pandemic, patient safety is a major priority and safety can be viewed as more than just preventing the spread of infection. Compromised patient safety comes in many different shapes and forms in a hospital setting such as lack of trust in healthcare team members, burnout among healthcare team members, or lack of personal protective equipment (PPE). Our groups focus is on how standard precautions impact patient safety during a pandemic. Taking the issues that has been previously stated nearly fifty percent of them is preventable (World Health Organization, 2019). As a group, to determine our focus for our topic we formulated a PICOT question.
