I believe this is a valuable statement for critical reasoning. To me, this quote means that coming up with an argument and having reasons to back it up to get what we believe across, is sort of universal and for anyone. After reading the chapter and understanding the text it was clear that individuals that dont take the time to think critically and understand a situation is going to have a hard time coming up with an argument over an important topic. This is why developing this skill is crucial. As the quote mentioned earlier, our species is meant to do this with other individuals so developing this skill from a young age is beneficial. Critical Thinking Chapter 4 discussed Ambiguity and Vagueness. Ambiguity is often described as “when a word, expression or statement has more than one meaning” (Facione& Gittens, 2016). As you read, the text mentions vagueness can eventually cause one to have doubt and ambiguity can even lead to misunderstandings.
