This is called mycobacterium tuberculosis. When affected by this disease TB usually disrupts the lungs, it can affect other parts of the body as well, such as the kidney, spine, and the brain. Believe it or not people can have TB and not show any symptoms, this is called latent tuberculosis. When individual breathes its infectious bacteria, this causes the bacteria to settle in the lungs and grow. After that the bacteria will start to move through the bloodstream into other parts of the body, like the throat which makes TB easier to spread to others. The most common treatment for active tuberculosis isoniazid INH in a combination of 3 other drugs called Rifampin, Pyrazinamide, and Ethambutol. With the use of these three medications users tend to feel better within weeks of taking them, while this may be the case, treating tuberculosis can take much longer than other bacterial infections. In the healthcare settings the transmission of mycobacterium tuberculosis is recognized as a high risk to patients and healthcare personnel.
