If ... we are not willing to ask the difficult question and analyze how we teach. We can not be the best teacher we can be or provide our students with the best learning environment. We should be able to analyze what we read and using our critical thinking skills to evaluate and find ways to use what we read in our teachings. This week during my readings and critical thinking reflection I found myself reading a lot on how improper funding effects schools, students and teachers. I took these readings and reflected on how they would affect me and what I can do about it. The first article I read was about the effects of school spending on educational and economic outcomes. This studyfound that graduation rates were up by 23 percent in the states that provided more funding to schools that taught children from low-income families. This study also highlighted how these students went on to obtain a household income that was 52% higher than students who did not receive similar funding (Kirabo, Johnson,& Persico, 2016).After reading this article it really made me see just how much funding a direct impact on how well students has do in education.
