In this 21st century, the main way that people can preserve relationships is through social media. Relationships range from friends, family, professional and even business relationships. Similar to social media use, using social media to participate in the maintenance any type of relationship has its benefits and risks. The pressure to post or to not post about relationships shapes the person that you are online as well as offline. When using social media, other people can see a lot about the relationship, which then gives those in that relationship the pressure to be sure to express those relationships properly. Individuals will see who they are in that relationship with, what type of relationship it is, how they established that relationship, as well as how it is sustained and ultimately, how it ends. They are then judged from that relationship because it was connected to social media in some way. The pressure to have relationships on social media is there as well. Scrolling through social media sites can offer a person unlimited access to what the perfect relationship should look like.
