BUS FP3012 Assesment1 2.docx BUS-FP3012 Western Medical Enterprises Application Questionnaire Capella University BUS3012-Fundimentals of Leadership Leadership Experience As I have gained experie... nce throughout the years, I have found myself being placed in leadership type roles. Specifically, when I worked in logistics, I ended up being my manager™s right hand. Although these were informal tasks I used to perform, I gained great knowledge and experience by taking them on. While I was building my work experience, I used to be part of the team that would get the merchandise ready for shipment to be delivered to the cruise ships. We had to consolidate pallets of merchandise in order to fit as many as possible into the trailers. A 53-foot trailer normally fit 28 pallets, if they were all placed sideways. You also had to make sure you placed them in order of delivery as there was merchandise for different cruises. My manager will assign 6 workers from receiving, on top of the 5 workers from shipping, and would place me as the lead so that we could efficiently consolidate the pallets to minimize shipping costs. On top of that, the local shipments were performed over the weekend in the company™s trucks, which only held 8 pallets. These were always more complex due to cruises leaving the port of Miami, which generated bigger orders, and in return meant more merchandise. My goal was to assure that we can meet the company™s goal and not have to request extra containers.
