Use the 6 dimensions of the ASAM criteria to assess for the appropriate level of care for the client in preparation for developing your assessment strategy in Unit 5 assignment. I chose to look at the Derek case. Derek is 30 years old, Puerto Rican and homosexual. He currently holds a job as a law clerk at a law firm in Miami. He holds a demanding job, works long hours and doesn™t sleep very much. He and his partner decide to take a trip to relax from their demanding careers. Derek soon started behaving erratic, aggressive, combative and menacing. Derek™s partner fears that he may be on something and found a substance in Derek™s luggage that resembled methamphetamine. Derek™s partner called his brother who confirmed a similar incident occurred while he was in law school.
