Especially as a career counselor due to their always being a need for people to need advice for their career development or beginnings. At our new job we start with a young woman named Crystal. Crystal is from the Asian American culture and is eighteen years old. She has had some vocational training in graphic design. One big topic of conversation with Crystal will be about her dyslexia and how it has impacted her so far and how it may impact her future career development. Client™s Career Development When we look at this young woman, we see that she has something that may or may not hinder her work experiences. Crystal is dealing with being dyslexic. Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder which runs in families; the consensus view for many years has been that it is the behavioral outcome of an underlying phonological deficit (Thomas et, al., 2015). Having a learning disability is hard enough to deal with because of uncertainties. Students think what will people be thinking if they find out that I have this disability? This is just added stress to anyone not only do they have to navigate school or work with this disability, but also people™s opinions when they find out about it.
