NR 360 Unit 8 Discussion Topic: Team Presentation (Summer 2022)-Chamberlain College Of Nursing( DOWNLOAD TO SCORE AN A)

Document Content and Description Below

This week, one member of your team will be responsible for posting your team presentation to this discussion thread under the color-coordinated thread below that corresponds with your team. This mus... t be posted by Monday of Unit 8 by 11:59 p.m. 1. Critique a team presentation other than your own, and include what the presentation taught you and what you see as far as its effect on patient safety and healthcare technology. 2. What changes in the presentation would you recommend, and why? 3. Ask questions! Each team is responsible for responding to questions asked of its presentation! Remember to include sources of literature in your posts to back up the statements you make! Remember, we are all about evidence-based practice! This is a short week, and you still must have at least two posts on 2 different days this week. The course ends on Wednesday of Unit 8. Answer Hi Purple Team! I really enjoyed reading through your presentation and learning more about gaming in nursing. For students, gaming is so important because it allows us to learn in a different, more exciting way. The use of gaming for teaching is innovative and can be used in a more non-traditional way than the usual classroom lecture. Gaming increases patient safety by educating the nurse about the different aspects of nursing and providing safe and efficient patient care. Since gaming is typically used in the classroom, and also can be used at staff meetings, the nurse can learn more and hopefully retain more information when it is presented like this. For example, simulations allow student nurses to practice their skills on a dummy before they use what they have learned in a real clinical setting. Simulations allow students to identify and prioritize patient care, delegate different tasks, and work together as a team to provide patient safety (Kelly, Berragan, Husebo, & Orr, 2016). Without simulations, we wouldn't have a chance to practice the skills we have learned before we provide care to a real life patient. This directly relates to patient safety because you're able to practice before possibly putting a patient in danger. Simulations offer a different perspective and allows students to visualize their mistakes and learn from them (Kelly, Berragan, Husebo, & Orr, 2016). Most recently, the use of simulations in school settings has risen and is becoming more popular (McGonigle and Mastrian, 2016). There are different types of simulations rather than the typical practice dummy. They can be computer-based, like a tutorial, that allows a certain aspect of nursing to be focused on (McGonigle and Mastrian, 2016). Overall, I think your teams presentation was really informative and providing a great explanation about gaming in nursing. The format was organized and easy to follow, while still providing nice colors and pictures to go with the information. The only thing that I would change would be to include more statistics on how effective gaming, more specifically simulation, is on patient care. Thanks for sharing everyone!
