Bueaucracy.docx(1) SOC:102 Bureaucracy a system of Government or Business Grand Canyon University: SOC:102 In the world today, government entities, factories and various other businesses are all... run by a bureaucracy. “Bureaucracy is a system of government or business run by a complex set of rules and ways of doing things. It is a fair and efficient system in which people are appointed to positions based on skill and does not allow for any sort of favoritism” (Caffrey, 2020). There are different views on bureaucracy that are both positive and negative. An example of it being a positive is the law and order of things. The main negativity of it is, it could extinguish the creativity and negatively affect the human spirit. In this essay I will be using data from my life experience to understand the nature and function of bureaucracy. The main organization that is over my company is the department of labor. It was founded in 1964 during the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson. It was a part of President Johnsons war on poverty (Wallechinsky, 2016). At the center where I am employed, we have a chain of command or hierarchical authority (something like a pyramid). Job Corps has contractors that run each center. For us that would be Chugach out of Alaska. If there is a problem, we take it to them. If DOL has an issue with something here at the center, they will call the contractor (Chugach) to get answers, and Chugach will call our center director.
