(2016) was an observational study in which the researcher did not actively control the value of any variable but simply observed the values as they naturally existed. Data were collected from participants by utilizing questionnaires to answer all the variables. Questionnaires were an appropriate method of collecting data because it was not invasive and posed no harm to the infant or the mother. This is important because the study aimed to explore the association between alcohol consumption, before and during pregnancy, and the risk of preterm birth among 46,252 primiparous mothers. The data collected was quantitative because it measured a numerical quantity for each variable or question asked on the questionnaire. The variables and background variables were measured to reflect the percentage of cases whose response was either yes or no for each of the variables. For example, out of a data set of 44,300 cases, 3,040 responders stated they never consumed alcohol before their pregnancy. The analysis method used to analyze the data consists of using multivariable logistic regression analyses to approximate inexact and adjusted relative risks of preterm birth according to alcohol intake. The study also included a sensitivity analysis to ensure that the exclusion of earlier preterm births (<. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
