First Continental Congress ✔✔1774-First Continental Congress The first continental congress met to protest the Intolerable Acts. Colonial leaders met in Philadelphia. In September 1774,the congress demanded that the Intolerable Acts be taken back and thant the colonists be given more power in making decisions. Second Continental Congress ✔✔1775- Second Continental Congress The Second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia in May 1775, a month the American Revolution had begun. The colonists realized it was important to act together if they were to defeat Britain. They agreed to form an American Continental Army.
