This could lead to social problems because straying away from social norms could cause disruption and issues in society. Social deviance is relative because norms change from society to society, making them relative as well. There is a large spectrum of social deviance, some of them being as minor as picking your nose in public and some being as major as committing crimes such as robbery and murder. Some of the more minor deviances could cause social problems by people being rude or judging you because you are doing something differently than they would. On the other hand, committing crimes could largely contribute to social problems. If someone murders someone else, the victim™s family will face a horrible loss and tragedy, affecting their everyday life, mindset, and perspective of life. Because they are members of society, this will also impact the flow of society. There is also a chance that they will seek revenge, causing more social disruption. Micro and Macro Level A very large social problem is homelessness and poverty. Approximately 40 million people (1 in 8) in America live below the poverty line (Jenkins, 2019).
