Research includes investigation, exploration, and discovery. Research usually starts out with a specific question that the answer needs to be found for, by investigating, exploring, and discovering, the answer is usually found. Evidence-based practice is a little different. In evidence-based practice, you take the evidence that you already have and apply it to clinical decision making. Evidence-based practice takes the knowledge that you already have a help to decide what the best situation is to use that knowledge (American Nurses Association, 2014). Evidence-based practice is a huge contribution to professional nursing. Practitioners today are able to show their patients evidence-based practice studies that have been performed on a group of patients with all the results so that the patients do not have doubts about specific treatment plans. I am currently enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Chamberlain School of Nursing. The family nurse practitioner is primarily found in family practice clinics that address and manage long term health problems for patients. For my evidence-based practice project, I have decided to focus on the adult diabetic type II patient that does not comply with diet and exercise management.
