Document Content and Description Below

Demographic Information and Present Political Situation Japan is located in the Eastern Asia region, between the North Pacific Ocean and the Korean Peninsula. Its size is compared with the California... state of the US. Japan`s climate ranges from tropical and temperate temperatures, depending on the region. The regions of the country which are highly populated are the Coastlines, the central plains and in Tokyo and its neighboring areas (Central Intelligence Agency, 2018). The population is mainly comprised of Japanese, Chinese, Koreans and other minority groups from all over the world. Japan`s population pyramid shows a high population of people aged 65 years and above, between 25 and 54 years and children aged between o and 14 years. The HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in Japan is generally low with an estimate of less than 1% (28, 000) of the total population. The obesity adult prevalence rate stands at 4.3%. Their physician rate is an average of 2.3 professionals by 1000 people. The hospital bed rate is an average of 13.4 beds per 1000 people. Japan`s government is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy. The current political leaders are the emperor and prime minister. The main political parties are the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party of Japan and the Party for Hope. The government is hailed for its contribution in ensuring universal and equal health care for the entire population at a meager cost (Central Intelligence Agency, 2018). Currently, the country has the highest life expectancy in the world. The political parties are united towards making good health policies to the benefit of the larger population. For example, they have a National Health Insurance plan which is charged with the responsibility of ensuring universal access to healthcare. Recently, the government increased the amount of funding provided for the NHS and agreed to set aside 10% of the GDP to healthcare by the year 2020 (Central Intelligence Agency, 2018). Currently, the NHS receives 6.6% of the country`s GDP. The political parties are also in a joint agreement towards ensuring the advancement of the healthcare systems. For example, the government plans to make advances in medical technology, new treatments, pharmacological aspects, and new procedures. [Show More]
